Privacy Policy

The Descartes Systems Group Inc. ("Descartes") takes your privacy seriously. Please read the following to learn more about our privacy policy as it relates to your use of the my GLN service.

What this Privacy Policy Covers

• This Privacy Policy covers Descartes’ treatment of personally identifiable information that Descartes collects when you register an account with the my GLN service, and when you use and we deliver to you the my GLN services. This policy also covers Descartes’ treatment of any personally identifiable information that Descartes’ business partners share with Descartes.
• This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that Descartes does not own or control, or to people that Descartes does not employ or manage, including without limitation, any Descartes affiliates or business partners.

Information Collection and Use

• Descartes collects personally identifiable information when you register for a Descartes my GLN account and when you use the my GLN services. Descartes may also receive personally identifiable information from our business partners.
• When you register with my GLN, we ask for your name, email address, phone and fax and country location. Once you register with my GLN and sign in to our services, you are not anonymous to us nor are you anonymous to other users of the my GLN services.
• When you register with my GLN, Descartes also collects other information about the organization you represent, including the organization name, DUNS number, address, phone and fax numbers, primary contact name and e-mail. Your name is then associated with that organization and, the fact that you are associated to that organization will be known to Descartes and other users of the my GLN service.
• Descartes also automatically receives and may record information on our server logs from your browser including your IP address and the page you requested.
• Descartes also records information relating to your use of the my GLN services. Information about your use of the my GLN services will be available to Descartes and other members of your organization.
• Descartes uses information for the following general purposes: to deliver the my GLN service to you, to enable my GLN users from other organizations to be able to contact you directly, to contact you with service announcements or administrative messages relating to the my GLN services (such as any planned outage), to invoice your organization in respect of your account, to fulfill your requests for certain products and services, to improve our services, and to conduct research.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

• Descartes will not sell or rent your personally identifiable information to anyone.
• Descartes will not share personally identifiable information about you to other companies or people except in the circumstances outline below. By registering a my GLN account, or authorizing your organization’s account manager to register an account for you, you are consenting to the following sharing of information by Descartes:
  • We need to share your information to provide the my GLN service;
  • We need to share your information to another user of the my GLN service with whom your organization is otherwise exchanging business documents;
  • We need to share the information with companies who work on behalf of Descartes to provide a product or service to you. Please know that whenever we share your personal information with these trusted business partners, they work under confidentiality agreements. (Unless we tell you differently, these companies do not have any right to use the personally identifiable information we provide to them beyond what is necessary to assist us);
  • We reasonably believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, or as otherwise required or permitted by law;
  • We respond to warrants, subpoenas, court orders or legal process or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; or
  • We find that your actions on the my GLN services violate any usage guidelines;
  • We may transfer information about you if Descartes is acquired by or merged with another company. In this event, Descartes will notify you before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy;
  • When you register for a my GLN account, your registration information and other data will be transmitted to the United States and/or other countries for processing and storage by Descartes and its affiliates and may be subject to the legal jurisdiction of these countries.

Your Ability to Edit and Delete Your Account Information

• You have the right to access, verify, update and deactivate your my GLN account information and preferences at any time by contacting Descartes customer support or your organization’s account manager.

Confidentiality and Security

• We limit access to personal information about you to employees who, as part of their job, we believe need to come into contact with that information to provide products or services to you.
• We have physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect personal information about you.
• In the event that you believe that your personal safety is at risk or if you believe that you may be the victim of identity theft or other illegal conduct, please contact the appropriate federal, provincial or local law enforcement agencies directly.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

• Descartes may amend this policy from time to time. If we make any substantial changes we will notify you by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your my GLN account or by posting a prominent announcement on our pages.
